Richard Wayne Miller

Richard Miller, 63, a longtime resident of New Albany, Kansas, died Friday, June 5, 2015 at his home. He was born March 21, 1952 in Neodesha, Kansas, the son of Richard G. and Winnie Jo (Vantrease) Miller. Richard was a graduate of Neodesha High School and served in the Kansas National Guard. On December 14, 1972 in Neodesha, Richard was united in marriage to June Millar. She preceded him in death February 24, 2015. Richard was a lifelong rancher. Throughout the years he had also been employed by Triad Welding, MEC in Neodesha, Archer Daniels Midland, Tom Arnold, Fredonia Cooperative Association, and for his son, Andy Miller, until his retirement in 2013. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying coon hunting, riding 4-wheelers, mushroom hunting, fixing tractors, playing softball and most importantly, haying. He served many years on the New Albany City Council. While in high school, he was active in the Future Farmers of America. Richard"s favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren. Richard"s survivors include: His Mother: Winnie Jo Miller of Neodesha, KS Sons: Andrew and Patty Miller of Fall River, KS Jason and Tracy Miller of New Albany, KS Brothers: Rick Miller of Providence, RI Rod Miller of Neodesha, KS Robert Miller of Dearing, KS Grandchildren: Hannah Jeffers, Allison Miller, Wyatt Miller, Matthew Miller and Marshall Miller His father, Richard G. Miller and granddaughter, Lauren Miller also preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Timmons Funeral Home with Mike Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson Cemetery near New Albany. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Richard"s name with the City of New Albany for the City Park and contributions can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home.
