Richard Lee Kimzey

Richard Lee Kimzey, 62, a lifelong resident of Longton, Kansas, died Sunday, May 7, 2006 at his home. He was born November 28, 1943 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Captain Beryl and Ethel (Converse) Kimzey. He was a graduate of Longton High School and served in the United States Army National Guard and as a Reserve of the Army 1961-1965. He was a self-employed rancher all of his life. On December 23, 1994, he married Shelly Britain. She survives at their home. He had also been married to Donna Warknock, Georgia McPherson, Diane Myers and Janet Drake. He was involved with the Longton Fair Association and with A.A. His hobbies included hunting and attending auctions, but his main enjoyment came from working with the cattle. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Shelly, include: Two daughters:Renee Sue Tindle of Longton, KS and Rhonda Lee Leppelman of Longton, KS Two sons: Steven Michael Kimzey of Longton, KS and Richard Lee Kimzey II of Longton, KS Five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at the Upola Cemetery, near Longton, with Larry Sheldon officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Fort Riley personnel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in his name with the American Diabetes Association and the Longton Fair Association.
