Rhona Ardell Calloway, 89, a Fredonia native, retired Gulf Oil stenographer, accordion teacher and toy poodle breeder, passed away November 15, 2010 in Wichita. She was born June 8, 1921 in Arkansas City, the daughter of Hugh Thurmond and Estella Lavona (Frieze) Holland Sr. Rhona is survived by brother John Holland (Catrinka), Hawaii; daughter Jeanne Conner Blase(Henry), Wichita; grandson Perry Blase (Mary Anne) and their children Conner, Brendon and Alyssa, Wichita; grandson Aaron Blase (Belinda) and their children Zachary and Matthew, Scottsdale, AZ; stepchildren; and many nieces and nephews, including Ralph Holland of Fredonia and Betty Wimer of Leavenworth. She was preceded in death by husband William L. Calloway; daughter Peggy Conner; infant twin sons; brothers Everett Holland and Hugh Holland, Jr., and sister Mary Bell Holland. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Faith Community Church, 1750 N. Gow in Wichita, with burial in the White Chapel Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Rhona"s name with the American Heart Association can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home. Family condolences may be left on this website.
