Rena Louise Clinesmith

Rena Louise Clinesmith, 90, a longtime resident of Buffalo, Kansas, died Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Heritage Health Care in Chanute, Kansas. She and her twin brother, Rex, were born January 15, 1923 in Fredonia, Kansas, to Claude LeRoy and Hattie Opal (Cook) Collins. Rena was a graduate of Coyville High School in 1943. On August 15, 1943 in Fairbury, Nebraska, she was united in marriage to George Calvin Clinesmith. Calvin and Rena made their home in the Buffalo area. The couple loved to camp in their fifth-wheel camper, and later in life, they spent several winters in Arizona. They also loved to travel around the United States and to many other countries. Calvin preceded her in death January 23, 1999. Rena was a lifetime member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church, and active in the United Methodist Women, Red Hat Society and the Fredonia Promenader"s Square Dance Club. She was a very involved in the Eastern Star, serving as worthy matron for two years, chaplain for ten years, organist for ten years, as well as acting as the grand representative of Texas. She received her 50-year membership pin on May 8, 2006. Rena is survived by her twin brother, Rex Collins of Topeka, Kansas, her brother-in-law Raymond Clinesmith of Buffalo, Kansas and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Rena"s parents, Claude and Hattie Collins; brothers, Carl, Robert and Willard Collins; and sister, Edna Benest preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, August 16, 2013 at the Buffalo United Methodist Church with Pastor Jose Miranda officiating. Burial will be in the Little Sandy Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday morning, 9:30 A.M. until service time at the Buffalo United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Buffalo United Methodist Church in Rena"s name and contributions can be sent to or left with the funeral home.
