Patsy Lavon Neuenschwander

Patsy Lavon Neuenschwander, 81, a longtime resident of the Coyville and Fredonia, Kansas area, died Monday, May 27, 2013 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born February 20, 1932 in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Perl Malery and Helen V. (Beck) Bass. When Patsy was very young, her father was killed in an accident and her mother was united in marriage to Delno Bass, who raised Patsy as his own. Patsy was a graduate of Coyville High School and attended Independence Community College. She was retired after 22 years with the Kansas Employment Office where she worked as a hearing officer. On June 9, 1949 in Fredonia, Kansas, Patsy was united in marriage to Charles "Bud" Neuenschwander. Bud preceded her in death August 16, 1994. She was an active member of the Buxton Christian Church for many years. She had also been involved with the Fredonia Library Board, Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary, Soil Conservation Auxiliary and the Wilson County Historical Society. Her hobbies included reading, crossword puzzles and painting. Patsy"s survivors include: Three children: Teresa Stepp and husband Jim of Fredonia, KS Chuck Neuenschwander and wife Janet of Fredonia, KS Mitchell Neuenschwander and wife Gina of Newton, KS One sister: Janet Wiglesworth of Fairway, KS Seven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren Her parents, Perl Bass and Helen Bass; stepfather, Delno Bass; brother, Perl Bass; and grandsons, Christopher Sims, Joe B. Sims and Tyler Neuenschwander also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at the Buxton Christian Church with Titus Neuenschwander and Gene Benefiel officiating. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery, north of Fredonia. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Timmons Funeral Home. Memorials have been established in Patsy"s name with the Buxton Christian Church and the Coyville Community Center and contributions can be sent to or left at Timmons Funeral Home.
