Michael R. Holliday

Michael R. Holliday, 63, of rural Neodesha, Kansas passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, Missouri.

Michael Ray Holliday was born February 24, 1958 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Jerry D. and Betty Holliday. He graduated from Neodesha High School in 1976. He later attended and graduated from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas where he attained a degree as a Registered Nurse (RN).

He worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) for many area hospitals as well in Biloxi/Gulfport, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana specializing in critical cardiac care nursing for many years. After 36 years of nursing he retired in 2016.

Michael enjoyed flying especially power paragliding. He liked it so much he became a flight instructor. He hosted and coordinated the Endless Foot Drag that has taken place in Fredonia the past few years.

He liked fishing, hunting and loved his family. He was also a passionate and avid Kansas State Wildcat football fan.

Michael attended the Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship in Altoona, Kansas.

Survivors include his mother, Betty of rural Neodesha, Kansas, sons, Brad (Emily) Holliday of Shawnee, Kansas, Zachary (Jennifer) Holliday of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sisters, Chere (David) Parker of Independence, Kansas, Dee Rush of Claremore, Oklahoma, Tamm (Brian) Masoner of Conifer, Colorado, adopted sister, Ashley Holliday of Fredonia, Kansas and granddaughter, Daphne Holliday.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry and grandparents.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship in Altoona, Kansas. The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time.
