Meredith Florene Smith

Meredith Florene Smith, 89, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Emporia, Kansas, died Saturday, September 12, 2009 at Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha, Kansas. She was born March 16, 1920 in Miller, Kansas, the daughter of Frank Herbert and Mary Jane (Davis) Crim. On August 29, 1941 in Council Grove, Kansas, she married Ivan C. Smith. He preceded her in death. Meredith was employed as a house cleaner for many years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Kingdom of God Jehovah"s Witnesses Church in Fredonia. Meredith"s survivors include: One son: Ivan P. Smith of Fredonia, KS Two daughters: Shirley Smith of Pineville, MO Meredith Ann Knowles of Burlington, KS Two brothers: Gene Crim of Sun City, AZ Cecil Crim of Chanute, KS Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son, Willard Smith; brothers, Dallas, Myron and Virgil; and sisters, Frances Rissin and Mary Gappa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Satuday, September 19, 2009 at the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall in Fredonia. Words of condolence for the family may also be left on this website.
