Max E. Dawson

Max Elden Dawson, 77, of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away at home with his family, Saturday, February 12, 2022. Max was born April 29, 1944 in Zanesville, Ohio to Harold and Martha (Downs) Dawson.


Max attended and graduated from Jefferson High School in Dresden, Ohio in 1962. He attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he met Brenda Gehman and later the two were united in marriage on August 20, 1965 in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He later attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where he received a degree in Theology. Max also received his Certificate of Ordination in Walnut, Kansas. He also received his Bachelor's and his Master's Degrees in Theology from Calvary Baptist Bible Seminary in Eufaula, Oklahoma.


Max worked at Rockwell International in Newark, Ohio, and Reyco Industries in Springfield, Missouri. Max served 48 years in ministry including 7 full time pastorates, most recently pastoring in Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia, Kansas for 21 years. After leaving Bible Baptist Church Max continued serving the Lord as an Evangelist for many churches for over a decade. He also substituted for Altoona and Neodesha schools for many years.


Max loved watching sports, especially anything involving Ohio State University as well the Chiefs. He loved reading the Bible, singing, playing Rook, and his dogs. His pride and joy was his only Grandson. He will be remembered for his desire to serve God all of his life.


In addition to his wife, Brenda, Max is survived by his daughter Eve Reynolds, Fredonia; grandson Dylan Reynolds, Fredonia; son Eddie Dawson, South Dakota; brother Paul (Donna) Dawson, Detroit, Michigan as well as many nieces and nephews.


Max was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Martha and his brothers, Joe, Clint, Jimmy, and Glenn.


Services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 19, 2022 at the Bible Baptist Church, 203 N. 4th Fredonia, Kansas. Visitation will be at 10:00 am until service time at the church. Graveside service will immediately follow at Fredonia City Cemetery.


Memorials are suggested to the Fredonia Bible Baptist Church and may be mailed to or left at Wickham Family Funeral Home 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
