Mary E. Ropp, 93, a lifelong resident of the Fredonia, Kansas area, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born October 30, 1916 in rural Wilson County, Kansas, the daughter of Robert and May (Little) Shue. In 1932, Mary was united in marriage to Harmon O. Cunningham. He preceded her in death September 10, 1963. In 1968, she married Jessie M. Hall. He preceded her in death August 17, 1984. On January 1, 1995 in Miami, Oklahoma, Mary was joined in marriage to John W. Ropp. John preceded her in death December 22, 2001. Through the years, Mary worked at Self Service Grocery, co-owned the Sinclair Station in Fredonia, and retired from LaDow and Spohn Printing Company. Mary was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia and was active with the Sunday school classes and volunteered many years at the Christian Thrift Shop. She had also been a member of the Rebekkah"s Lodge. Mary was a talented quilter and embroiderer. She enjoyed playing cards, especially "Skip-Bo", reading and dancing. Mary"s survivors include: Two granddaughters: Lori Kraus and her husband Patrick of Colwich, KS Tammy Leis and her husband Rob of Eureka, KS Two sisters: Helen Cunningham of Fredonia, KS Mable Plemmons of Modesta, CA Six great grandchildren: Stacey, Jesse, Katie and Benjamin Kraus Christian and Isabel Leis She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gary Gene Cunningham and Larry Dean Cunningham; one great grandson, Luke Kraus; three sisters, Alba, Crystal and Grace; three brothers, Harold, Roy and Edwin. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Rev. Jim Bell and Tony Blackwell officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in Mary"s name with the First Christian Church or the Christian Thrift Shop and may be left at the funeral home.
