Marjorie Ellen Biggs, 80, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born June 3, 1932 in Neodesha, Kansas, the daughter of Lester Ray "Red" and Mary Francis (Osburn) Compton. She was a graduate of Neodesha High School. Marge was united in marriage to Edgar Biggs. They were later divorced. Marge worked many years at City Rexall Drug Store in Fredonia, and later was the secretary to the Wilson County Engineer. She was a very active member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary. She also volunteered time on the election board for a number of years. Marge enjoyed gardening and always had plenty of birdhouses so she could enjoy watching the birds. Her survivors include: One son: Thomas R. and Laura Biggs of Mankato, MN Two daughters: Mary Jo and Tom Ward of Elkhart, IA Carol S. and Mac Young of Pittsburg, KS Six grandchildren: Ryan Biggs, Kristin Shields, Katie Patry, Ethan Ward, Dalton Russell, and Bekah Ward Four great grandchildren: Ashlyn Shields, Conner Shields, Logan Patry, and Luke Patry She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Neodesha City Cemetery with Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating. A memorial has been established in Marge"s name with the Avenue of Flags and can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
