Marie Pryor, 90, a resident of El Cerrito, CA will be laid to rest in Fredonia on Saturday, December 19, next to her beloved husband, Arthur W. Pryor, son of the late Will and Alice Pryor of Fredonia. Marie will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother, talented homemaker, and avid traveler. She passed away December 2, 2009, surrounded by loved ones. Raised on a farm in Gridley, CA, she moved to San Francisco to support the war effort in the 1940s. She met Arthur, the love of her life, while working at Standard Oil, and the two celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary shortly before his death in 1997. Marie"s life was active throughout her many years. While raising her children she was involved with PTA and Scouting, and she later volunteered at the local hospital. She and Arthur loved traveling the U.S., Mexico, and Europe, and even after his death she continued to travel with her children and grandchildren. Marie was also a talented painter, jewelry maker and dressmaker. Marie will be lovingly remembered by her children, Kenneth Pryor, Lois Pryor, Carolyn Williams, and Wayne Pryor; brothers Fred and Lou Carlin; sisters-in-law Marjorie Pryor, Myrtle Carlin and Ruth Carlin; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Marie now joins her parents, Paul and Phoebe Carlin; husband Arthur; sister Pauline Pool; brothers Art, Carl, Cliff, Bill, Milton, and Bobby Carlin; brother-in-law Harold Pryor; and sister-in-law Mary Edith Fisher. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at 1 PM Saturday, December 19, 2009 at the Timmons Chapel with Rev. Charlotte Coates of the First United Methodist Church officiating, followed by committal services at Fredonia City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to local food banks would be appreciated.
