Lewis Gene Lyon

Lewis Gene Lyon, 79, a resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, formerly of Howard, Kansas, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 12am at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville. He was born March 24, 1935 in rural Fredonia, Kansas, the son of Frank Andrew and Ruth (Foreman) Lyon. Lewis was a staff sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving 1952-1961. He was a school principal for a few years and then served as a pastor in the Wesleyan Church for 30 years, retiring in 1994.

On October 4, 1956 in Topeka, Kansas, he married Betty Law. She survives at their home in Bartlesville.

Nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren

His parents; two brothers, Francis Lyon and Richard Lyon; five sisters, Alice McElwain, Ella Mae Branson, Annabell Friend, Lucille Harmon and Ruth Scott; and an infant daughter preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 11, 2014 at 10:30 A.M. at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia with Pastor Loren Rovenstine officiating. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery, north of Fredonia, with military rites. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the funeral, 9:30 A.M.-10:30 A.M. A memorial has been established in Lewis name with the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.
