Letta Louise Fairchild

Letta "Peggy" Louise Fairchild, 84, a resident of El Monte, California, died Sunday, June 18, 2006 in El Monte. She was born October 7, 1921 in Coyville, Kansas, the second of five children born to Loren an Bessie (Glasgow) Fields. Because Peggy was reared on a farm, she soon learned to work with animals and was driving a team of horses at a very young age. She loved to work outdoors and was very much a "tom-boy" at heart. Peggy loved to raise flowers and loved to hunt. She was a very good shot with a shotgun when it came to wild game. After finishing school, Peggy married and had three children, Avis Mae; Allen Loren; and Henry Lee. She lived in Fredonia with the children until the mid 1950"s. At that time she relocated to El Monte and made her residence there until the time of her death. She worked at Bell and Howell for 27 1/2 years, retiring in 1984. She was active with Lambert Park Little League and was an avid Dodger fan. Her Survivors include: Two Sons: Allen Loren Faichild of El Monte, CA Henry Lee Fairchild of Baldwin Park, CA Two Brothers: James W. Fields of McPherson, KS Clarence Fields of Hemet, CA One Sister: Mary Ellen Crawford of Wichita, KS Seven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Lorena Pease; one daughter, Avis Mae Colosimo; one grandson, Jeffrey Fairchild. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 8, 2006 at the Timmons Funeral Home Chapel. A memorial has been established in her name with the Fredonia Regional Health Care Foundation and may be sent to the funeral home.
