KURT ALLEN BOOEKurt A. Booe, 80, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Independence, Kansas with his family by his side.Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held 10:30A.M., Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas with John Chastain, officiating." Inurnment will be held at 3:00 P.M. at the Oswego Cemetery with military honors performed by the McConnell Air Force Honor Guard.Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 19, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial remembrances are suggested to Mercy Hospice and they may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.Kurt Allen Booe was born May 22, 1933 at Humboldt, Kansas the son of Ennis W. Booe and Mildred M. (Henry) Booe." He graduated from Healdsburg High School in 1951 in Healdsburg, California." After graduation he enlisted with the United States Air Force and served from 1952 until his honorable discharge in 1955 attaining the rank of staff sergeant.On May 6, 1956 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Bonnie Garland and she survives at the home.Kurt later went to Kansas State University receiving his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering in 1960 and Master of Science Degree in Transportation and Traffic Engineering in 1964.Kurt was the first County Administrator in Kansas working in Newton for Harvey County." He held numerous offices in both Kansas and National Engineering societies." Kurt served as Montgomery County Engineer in Independence." He also owned and operated a consulting engineering firm in Colorado for five years." Other experience included two years as Professor of Technology at the Kansas College of Technology and six years as a County Engineer and Public Works Director in Kansas." He also served as Vice President and Manager for Kirkham, Michael and Associates for Kansas Operations." Kurt was a Registered Professional Engineer and Land Surveyor in the states of Kansas and Colorado.Through his many job opportunities he resided in Newton, Kansas from 1970-1975, Alamosa, Colorado from 1975-1980, Cherryvale, Kansas from 1980-1991, Ellsworth, Kansas from 1991-1996 and back to Cherryvale from 1996 until now.Kurt loved to fish, hunt and play horseshoes but mostly he will be remembered for his love for his family.Survivors include wife," Bonnie of the home, daughter Laura Vance and her husband Randy of Pueblo, Colorado; four sons, Bill Booe and his wife Gina of Cherryvale, Kansas; Keith Booe and his wife Jody of Oceanside, California; Dan Booe and his wife Michelle of Derby, Kansas; Joe Booe and his wife Jenna of Manhattan, Kansas; brother, Billy Booe of Salina, Kansas; sister, Edith Ault of Greely, Colorado; grandchildren, Amanda Vance, Jonathan Booe and his wife Teryn, Jillian Vance, Kyle Booe, Kenan Booe and his wife Taylor, Daniel Vance, Micah Booe and his wife Sarah, Kimberly Booe, Ethan Booe, Jesse Booe, Mary Beth Booe, Garrett Booe, Carter Booe, Lauren Booe, great grandchildren, Reyce Booe, Reygan Booe and Rylee Booe." He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Booe.
