Joseph Paul Ludwick

Joseph Paul Ludwick, 86, a resident of Fall River, Kansas, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 19, 2006 at Via Christi Medical Center-St. Joseph Campus in Wichita. He was born September 26, 1920 in Fall River, the son of Ollie Edward and Clara Louisa (Axtel) Ludwick. He served in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. South Dakota earning the rank of Pharmacist Mate II. He was awarded a purple heart during World War II. He worked as a printer for many years at Printing, Inc., retiring in 1982. On February 4, 1945 in Arlington, Massachusetts, he married Mary A. Coiffi. She survives at their home. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fredonia and an active part of the Sacred Heart Quilters, as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Paul was known as "the rosary man" because of the hundred of rosaries that he made and gave away. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary, include: Six sons & daughters-in-law Paul & Brenda Ludwick of Mesa, AZ Dick & Cathy Ludwick of Wichita, KS Mark Ludwick & Debbie Songer of Wichita, KS Tom & Cindy Ludwick of ElDorado, KS Bill & Susan Ludwick of Wichita, KS John & Karen Ludwick of Wichita, KS Two daughters & son-in-law: Mary (Ludwick) & Mike Costello of Wichita, KS Lori Ludwick of Wichita, KS He was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, James Matthew Ludwick and one great granddaughter, Alyssa Nicole Dillman. A rosary will be said at 9:00 A.M. with mass following at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, December 22, 2006, at the Sacred Heart Church in Fredonia with Father Stephen Baxter and Father John Hotze officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday at White Chapel Cemetery in Wichita. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Thursday, 2:30 P.M.-7:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family has established memorials with CSJ Dear Neighbor Ministries, 3700 E. Lincoln, Wichita, 67218 and with Sacred Heart Church in Fredonia.
