Jay D. Hicks

Jay Dee Hicks, 83, passed away on September 1, 2019, at his residence in Cherryvale.
Jay Dee Hicks was born on October 15, 1935, in Morehead, Kansas, the son of Vernon D. Hicks and Pearl Wells Hicks. J.D. attended Labette County Community High School in Altamont, Kansas. He graduated in 1953.
J.D. joined the United States Army Reserves and received an honorable discharge.
He was the owner and operator of J D Hicks Truck Line for over 60 plus years. He also farmed, which turned out to be his favorite hobby as well.
J.D. will be remembered fondly by his friends and family.
He is survived by his children: Jaylene Hicks of Vinita, Oklahoma, Amy Hicks Corle of Nowata, Oklahoma, four sons, sister, Laverna Huneycutt, and his grandchildren: Tara Daniels, Andy Emerson, and Taylor Garcia. He is also survived by his caregiver, Roberta Housel.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Moerhead Cemetery in Morehead, Kansas.
