JAMES "GENE" E. KIISTERJames "Gene" E. Kiister, 77, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away at 10:19 P.M. Monday, October 7, 2013 at his home with his family at his side.Cremation has taken place with private family service held at a later date.Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Hospice and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas" 67335.James E. Kiister was born August 24, 1936 in St. Paul, Kansas the son of Amel Kiister and Eva (Grooms) Kiister." He grew up in St. Paul and attended school through the eleventh grade and then graduated from high school in 1954 in Altamont.On February 8, 1958 in Cherokee, Kansas he was united in marriage to Sharon Lundrigan and she survives at the home.Spending time with his grandkids was his favorite pastime but he also liked to walk the dog, watch western movies and collect Red Ryder memorabilia." He also loved puttering and tinkering with things and was a jack of all trades master of many."Gene" worked in the printing business as a pressman for Clark Printing, Vallis Wyngroff in Cherryvale, Banta in Kansas City, Missouri and retired from Sun Graphics.He was Past President of the Cherryvale Library Board, Past Trustee of Riverside Southern Baptist Church in Independence, Master Printer and Honorary FFA member in Cherryvale.Survivors include wife Sharon of the home, two sons, Ronald Kiister and his wife Julie and Rick Kiister and his wife Donna of Cherryvale, KS, one daughter, Lori Kiister of Cherryvale, KS, five grandchildren, Cody Kiister, Casey, Kiister, Kyle, Kiister, Ashley Clerk, Jaimee Sawrey and four great grandchildren, Liam, Brooklynn and Bronson Clerk and Jayden Kiister.
