J L. Yeoman

J L. Yeoman, 73, a lifelong resident of the Fredonia area, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born July 26, 1932 in Ashland, Kansas, the son of Mark "Lee" and Gladys Marie (Krebs) Yeoman. He was a graduate of Fredonia High School and served in the United States Navy 1951-1955 in the CB"s. He was self-employed cattleman and rancher. He and his family owned and operated Lazy JL Western Wear and Equipment for 21 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a life member of the Fredonia American Legion. He was a founding member of the Wilson County Fair Association and an active member for 50 years, serving on the Rodeo Committee. He also participated in the Pro Rodeo Association. His survivors, in addition to his wife, Irma, include: Four daughters & spouses: Connie & Michael Evenson of Fredonia, KS; Sandy & John Edens of Fredonia, KS; Dava & Roger Spohn of Lawrence, KS; Kim & Tony Fiscus of Fredonia, KS; Two sisters: Ramona Smith of Bucklin, KS; Christine Woodard of White, SD; One brother: Bob Yeoman of Neodesha, KS;Three grandchildren: Carianne & Troy Short; Kendall Fiscus; Tonielle Fiscus; Two great grandchildren: Teel Short & Autumn Short. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank two sisters, Ruth & Florence. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 24, 2006, at the Buxton Christian Church with Rev. Gene Benefiel officiating. Burial will be in the Bachelder Cemetery, south of Fredonia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in his name with the Wilson County Fair Association Rodeo Committee and the Buxton Christian Church.
