Isaac Clinton "Ike" Costin

Isaac Clinton "Ike" Costin, 92, a resident of rural Altoona, Kansas, died early Monday morning, October 25, 2010, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute, Kansas. He was born July 26, 1918, west of Derby, Kansas, the son of James Walter and Georgia Katherine (Ruter) Costin. Ike was a graduate of Derby High School. He was a lifelong farmer and rancher. On March 27, 1938, Ike married Beryl Thoma and she survives at their home. Ike was a member of the Colfax Church and his favorite hobbies included hunting and fishing. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Beryl, include: Three daughters: Marilyn Baker of Derby, Kansas Karen Costin of Altoona, Kansas Mary Hawkins of Haysville, Kansas One son: Joe Dean Costin of Altoona, Kansas One brother: Boyd Costin of rural Derby, Kansas Six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ike was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mary Ana Simanek, Barbara Johnson and Esther Costin; and two brothers, George Costin and James Costin. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Colfax Cemetery, east and north of Two Lakes in Neosho County with Pastor Max Dawson and Roy Varner officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, 5:00-7:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made in Ike"s name with the Southern Care Hospice and contributions can be sent to the funeral home.
