Henry Theodore King Jr.

Henry Theodore King, Jr. went to be with our Lord on May 29th, 2021. He was born on September 2, 1935 in Sweetwater, Texas, to Henry and Eva King. He had one sister, Anna Nell King who proceeded him in death.

Henry married Marilyn Kauth on August 10, 1956. This August they would have celebrated 65 years of marriage. Henry and Marilyn met at Bethany Nazarene College (now SNU) and lived in the Oklahoma City area, before moving to Fredonia, Kansas. Once there, they lived several years on the Kauth family farm and later in town. After retirement, they moved to Independence to be closer to family. They raised 4 children, Brad (Deb), Cheryl Deeds (Kevin), Darrin (Jani), and Janna Rinck (Jerald). He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Henry loved to garden and share the produce with others. He was an avid OU and St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved to watch his grandchildren participate in sports. He worked for Seven-Up Bottling Company for many years and after retiring, he served as custodian for State Bank of Fredonia and the Christian Church of Fredonia and then after moving to Independence he worked for the Food Bank and delivered backpacks to area schools.

Henry was a lifelong member of the Church of the Nazarene. He served as Worship Leader and Church Board Member for over twenty years at the Neodesha Church of the Nazarene, before moving to Independence where he attended the Independence Church of the Nazarene.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the funeral services at Fredonia City Cemetery.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Fredonia Flag Fund and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
