Hazel L. Shook

January 6, 1930 — September 25, 2017

Hazel L. Shook, 87, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Neodesha Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Neodesha, Kansas.

Hazel Lucille Shook was born January 6, 1930 at Wyandotte, Oklahoma then daughter of Hubert Angleton and Hazel (Neely) Angleton.

On April 1, 1947 in Fort Scott, Kansas she was united in marriage to Francis B. Shook and he preceded her in death November 21, 1999.

Hazel worked as a sewing machine operator in Chanute, Cherryvale and Neodesha.  She was also a homemaker.
She enjoyed crocheting afghans, baby blankets and making new designs.  She liked taking care of her flowers and gardening. 

Hazel loved to watch basketball and was a loyal fan of the Kansas City Royals.  She will be remembered for her homemade chicken and turkey noodles, ice cream, gooseberry and blackberry pies.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses and active in the ministry for over 35 years.

Survivors include her children, Evelyn Sue Hockett of rural Yates Center, Kansas, Verna Kay Smith of Fredonia, Kansas, Francis Karen Aikins of Bixby, Oklahoma, Katherine Ann Jones of Belle Plaine, Kansas, Christine Lucille Wilson of Coffeyville, Kansas, siblings, Marlene Grogan of Dewey, Oklahoma, Cecil Angleton of Erie, Kansas, Mary Burnett of Craig, Colorado, 31 plus grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Michael Dean Shook, grandsons, Gary Howard Hockett, Michael Dean Shook, Rodney Glen Aikins, granddaughters, Jolene Karen Aikins, Anette and Janette Aikins.

Friends may sign the register book Saturday, September 30, 2017 from 9:30 A.M. until 10:30 A.M.  at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas  66736.

In Loving Memory Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 30, 2017 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Interment will follow in Shaw Cemetery, Shaw, Kansas.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses or American Cancer Society and they may left or mailed to the funeral home.
