Harvey Theodore Campbell

Harvey Theodore Campbell, 87, a longtime resident of Neodesha, Kansas, died Monday, May 14, 2007, at Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born July 25, 1919 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, the son of Frank and Stella (Cline) Campbell. He was a graduate of Altoona High School. He served as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army 1945-1946, where he received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Campbell worked for many years and retired from M.E.C. in Neodesha, where he was a warehouse supervisor. On September 28, 1940 in Sedan, Kansas, he married Virginia Brown. She preceded him in death December 23, 1998. He attended the United Methodist Church in Neodesha. He was a member of the American Legion Post #170 in Chanute; V.F.W. Post #5962 in Neodesha; and the National Rifle Association. His hobbies included going dancing with his companion, Mary Ward. His survivors include: Two sons & daughters-in-law: Gary & Barbara Campbell of Oro Valley, AZ Ron & Louise Campbell of Neodesha, KS One brother: Hiram Campbell of Chanute, KS His companion: Mary Ward of Chanute, KS 3 Grandchildren; 4 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leroy Campbell. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at the Neodesha United Methodist Church with Rev. Kristopher Brinlee and Rev. Kenneth Richards officiating. Private family burial will take place in the Altoona Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name with the American Legion Post #170 in Chanute and may be sent to the funeral home.
