Harold S. (Steve) Ward

Harold Stephen (Steve) Ward, 62, of Salina, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on January 11, 1953 to Harold and Phyllis (Bentley) Ward in Fort Scott, Kansas. Steve graduated from Altoona-Midway High School in 1971. He attended Neosho Community College for one year and then attended Kansas State University, receiving his Master"s degree in Reproductive Physiology. Steve worked on several ranches throughout his life and always enjoyed working with cattle and gathering cattle by horseback. For a few years he also worked framing houses. Due to health problems he was unable to work the last several years. When he was in good health he loved to read and enjoyed hunting and fishing and helping friends and family. One of his joys was spending time with his nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces. On March 26, 1983, he married Beverley Clinesmith at the Buffalo United Methodist Church. Steve is survived by his wife Beverley of the home, his parents, Harold and Phyllis Ward of Wichita, KS; his brother Rick Ward (Barb) of Chanute, KS; sisters, Diana Thompson (Monte) of Goddard, KS; Debbie Vanderveer (Tim) of Riverview, FL; Patty Cadle of Goddard, KS; his inlaws, Raymond and Mary Clinesmith of Buffalo, KS; many nephews and nieces, great nephews and nieces, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at the Buffalo United Methodist Church with Pastor Jimmy Yoo officiating. Burial will be in the Buffalo Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, Noon-6:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. Memorials have been established in Steve"s name with the Brookdale Hospice or the Tammy Walker Cancer Center and donations may be left with or sent to the funeral home.
