Grant E. Monical, 87, passed away Tuesday, November 24, at the home of his daughter and son-in-law in Saint Joseph, Missouri. He was born July 7, 1922, to Warner and Mary (Cox) Monical. Grant was a graduate of Fredonia High School. He served in World War II and was an honored veteran of the Korean War. Grant married Billie Nichols on August 7, 1943. After serving in the military Grant and Billie owned and operated Monical Locker and Cold Storage for 35 years. Billie preceded him in death April 25, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ralph, Rex, and Kenny. Grant"s survivors include: Daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Bob Barrett Grandaughter and husband: Monica and Tommy Jaynes Great-grandchilren: Caleb and Madalyn Jaynes all of Saint Joseph, Missouri, Sister: Eileen Taylor of Fredonia Sister-in-law: Julia Monical of Fredonia Several nieces and nephews Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28th, at Fredonia City Cemetery with Rev. Jim Bell of the First Christian Church officiating. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 3018. Memorials have been established in Grant"s name with the American Cancer Society or Avenue of Flags in care of Timmons Funeral Home. Words of condolence may be left on this website.
