Glen R. Duckworth

Glen Richard Duckworth, 85, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at the Fredonia Regional Hospital, in Fredonia, Kansas.

Glen was born December 24, 1934, in rural Fredonia, the son of T.A. and Mary (Herb) Duckworth. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1952.

A veteran of Korean War, he served in the United States Army. He enlisted on January 26, 1953 and was honorably discharged on January 25, 1956, as a Sergeant. He was awarded several medals while in the Army, including the United Nations Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

On July 27, 1957, he married Dorothy Eleanor Porter, the daughter of Byron and Ruby Porter, at the Fredonia United Methodist Church, in Fredonia, Kansas. Glen and Dorothy lived most of their married life on the side of the hill North of Coyville, Kansas. Dorothy survives at their home. To this union were born Toni Rae Duckworth Moore and Theresa Thelma Duckworth.

Glen was a life-long member of the Masonic Lodge # 163, of Fall River, Kansas and the VFW Fredonia American Legion of Fredonia, Kansas.

Survivors include their daughter, Toni Moore of Pasadena, Texas; granddaughters, Tiffany (Ryan) Choma and Kelsey (John) Ortiz, all of Houston, Texas. Great grandsons Beckett and Brooks Choma and Liam Ortiz, all of Houston, Texas.

Other survivors include a brother, Gary Duckworth of Fredonia, Kansas, sisters, Shirley (Dee) Tindle of rural Fredonia and Kay (Rod) England of Tazwell, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Theresa: sister, Joyce Smith; brothers, T.A. Duckworth, JR. and an infant brother, Donald Duckworth.

Graveside services will be held, Friday, February 28, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the Farmington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Avenue of Flags and may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
