FLOYD E. THOMPSONFloyd E. Thompson, 76, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Friday, October 17, 2014 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center.Floyd Edward Thompson was born January 20, 1938 in Cherryvale, Kansas the son of Harry Edgar Thompson and Mary (Clark) Thompson.On July 3, 1956 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Marlene Bearden and she survives at the home.Floyd served in the United States Army National Guard from February 20, 1956 until his honorable discharge February 18, 1959.He worked for H.D. Lee Manufacturing for 14 years and was the owner operator of Floyd Parkway Station in Cherryvale for many years.Floyd resided in Cherryvale from 1938 until 1986 when he move to McKenzie Bridge, Oregon and later returned back to Cherryvale in 1991.He was a member of the New Hope Christian Church and served as a deacon.Survivors include one son Wes Thompson and his wife Tonna of Cherryvale, Kansas, one daughter Holly Mulvaney and her husband Todd of Papillion, Nebraska, two brothers, Jack Thompson of Altamont, Kansas, Roy Thompson of Cherryvale, Kansas, one sister, Ada Dunn of Macon, Georgia, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his son, Mark Thompson, twin brother, Lloyd Thompson, brother, Chester Thompson and his parents.Cremation has taken place with Celebration of Life Services being held 2:00 P.M., November 8, 2014 at Wickham Family Funeral Home of CherryvaleIn lieu of flowers the family asks for memorial contributions to be made to the Dementia Association or American Heart Association and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
