Everett Eugene Metzger

Everett Eugene Metzger, 69, a longtime resident of rural Fredonia, Kansas, died Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born December 13, 1940 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Victor R. and Ethel M. (Wait) Metzger. On July 10, 1961 in Fredonia, Everett was united in marriage with Mary Harper. She survives him at their home. Everett was retired from the Fredonia Co-Op, where he was the general manager for over 33 years. He was a member of the Buxton Christian Church and a member of the Watershed Board. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary, include: His son & daughter-in-law: Dr. David & Alicia Metzger of Norfolk, Virginia His daughter & son-in-law: Alisha & Kirk Hammond of Emporia, Kansas One granddaughter: Sydnee Hammond of Emporia, Kansas Two brothers: Clifford & Arlene Metzger of Salina, Kansas Alvin Metzger of Ponca City, Oklahoma He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Ethel Metzger; his twin brother, David D. Metzger; and two brothers, Victor Metzger and James Metzger. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Timmons Funeral Home with Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating. Private burial will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Tuesday, 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Everett"s name to benefit Wilson County 4-H. Words of condolence for the family may left on this website.
