Evelyn J. Tarter, 99, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Friday, February 28, 2020 at Morningstar in Neodesha, Kansas.
Evelyn Jane Tarter was born November 9, 1920 in Chanute, Kansas the daughter of Claude Fisher and Myrtle (Shafer) Fisher. She graduated from Benedict High School in 1941.
On May 2, 1942 in Yates Center, Kansas she was united in marriage to Charlie C. Tarter and he preceded her in death January 31, 1998.
Evelyn was a homemaker. She volunteered at the Christian Church Thrift Shop and was a kitchen angel at the church. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Fredonia, Rural Homemaker Club and a Girl Scout Leader.
Survivors include her children, Charlene McGee and her husband J. David of Wamego, Kansas, Charlie Eugene (Gene) Tarter of Newton, Kansas, Cathy Row and her husband Bob of Fredonia, Kansas, Connie Long and her husband Mack of Charlo, Montana, 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant sister, 6 brothers, Jim, Merle, Howard, Wayne, Wendell, Leonard, 2 sisters, Lois, Lenore, and 2 great grandchildren, Kagen Wacker and Savannah Long.
Celebration of Evelyn’s Life will be held 2:30 P.M., Friday, March 6, 2020 at First Christian Church of Fredonia.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. until service time at the church
Interment will follow the service at Fredonia City Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the First Christian Church or the Avenue of Flags and they may sent or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
