Elvin H. Lakin

Elvin H. "Red" Lakin, 96, longtime resident of the Fall River and New Albany, Kansas area, died Friday, August 8, 2008 at Lakepoint of Augusta. He was born March 25, 1912 in Wynewood, Oklahoma, the son of Isaac and Elizabeth (Wyatt) Lakin. Mr. Lakin was a self-employed farmer and also worked as a custodian for the Fall River Schools. On May 31, 1930 in Eureka, Kansas, he married Amy Ethel Worford, to which seven sons were born. She preceded him in death July 25, 1973. His survivors include: Three sons: Bill Lakin of Leon, Kansas Dick & Esther Lakin of El Dorado, Kansas Ron & Irene Lakin of Augusta, Kansas Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; and four sons, Charles, Rex, Roy and Bob. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Jack Vaught officiating. A memorial has been established in his name with Fall River Community Building Fund and may be sent to the funeral home. Family condolences may be left on this website.
