Effie F. Alexander, 89, a resident of Neodesha, Kansas, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Wilson County Hospital in Neodesha. She was born May 1, 1920 in Neodesha, the daughter of H.E. and Lucinda (Pettyjohn) Dickens. She was a homemaker and a retired CNA for Wilson County Hospital. On June 14, 1939 in Independence, Kansas, she married Roy F. Alexander, Jr. He preceded her in death in 1983. Effie was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene where she also taught Sunday school. Effie"s survivors include: Two daughters: Lucinda Jewell of Altavista, VA Susan Renfro of Augusta, KS Two sons: Roy Alexander of Neodesha, KS William Alexander of Galesburg, IL Eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren She was also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Oren, Roy, Marion and Robert Dickens; and three sisters, Hallie Green, Ethlyn Lewise Dickens and Letha May Dickens. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Neodesha with Rev. Damon W. Hayward and Rev. Carl Soliday officiating. Burial will be in the Neodesha City Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Friday, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Effie"s name with the First Church of the Nazarene and may be left at the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
