Edna Nadine Dishman

Edna “Nadine” Dishman, 98, longtime resident of Fredonia, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at her home in Fredonia, Kansas.
Nadine was born July 5, 1921 to Charles Crossfield and Bertha (Moffatt) Crossfield in Altoona, Kansas. Nadine attended and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1940. She also graduated from Wichita Cosmetology School.
On June 7, 1947, Nadine was united in marriage to Buford Dishman in Enid, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Nadine was a floor supervisor for Boeing during WWII. She was a beautician most of her life. She also owned and worked at Cozy Café in Fredonia for several years making bread. Nadine also worked at the Fredonia Child Care Center and was loved by the children there.
Nadine was a member of the First Christian Church and volunteered at the Christian Thrift Shop. She also spent many hours at the Wilson County Historical Museum for over 30 years. She and her knowledge of our County will be greatly missed.
She enjoyed golfing, fishing, reading and genealogy. She was an excellent cook, baker and candy maker. Nadine will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family.
Survivors include her son, Jebediah Dishman of Fredonia, Kansas, daughter, Gail Dishman of Sedona, Arizona, and two grandchildren, Ryan Nichols and Devan Gentzel.
In addition to her husband, her parents; her brothers, Harold Crossfield and Bill Crossfield, and sister, Wilma Clanton, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be Tuesday, August 13, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 9:00 A.M.–12Noon at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas. The casket will be open for visitation and closed for services at the church.
Celebration of Life Services for Nadine will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at the First Christian Church.
Interment will follow the service at Fredonia City Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church and Christian Thrift Shop. They may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
