Dorothy V. Fuhlhage

Dorothy V. Fuhlhage, 92, a longtime resident of the Fredonia, Kansas area, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at her home. She was born March 5, 1916 in Chanute, Kansas, the only child of Albert E. and Ora Etta (Kirby) Ewing. Dorothy was a graduate of Coyville High School and received her teaching credentials from Independence Community Junior College. Dorothy taught school for a number of years at schools in the area. She also worked at Bank Note Printing Company in Fredonia and was a personal assistant to Bill Hollis for several years. In November of 1940 in Appleton, Missouri, she married Robert K. "Kenny" Fuhlhage. He preceded her in death November 5, 1970. Dorothy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia and the Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved to do genealogy research and was active at the Wilson County Historical Society. She also was a talented quilter, making many beautiful quilts for family and friends. Dorothy is survived by her daughter-in-law, Dee Ann Voth of Fredonia, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Robert E. "Bob" Fuhlhage. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Timmons Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery north of Fredonia. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Sunday, 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Dorothy"s name with the Farmington Cemetery and may be sent to the funeral home.
