Dolores Ann Ong, 78, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Friday, July 6, 2007 at her home. She was born January 6, 1929 in Oil Hill, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Edward and Elizabeth (Wideman) Barron. She was a graduate of Fredonia High School. She was employed by USD 484 for 27 years as a school secretary. Her lifetime passion was that of a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. On January 29, 1950 in Fredonia, she married John Ong. He survives at their home. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia, where she was active with the CWF Dorcas Circle, taught Sunday School for 12 years and volunteered at the Christian Church Thrift Shop. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, 1910 Club, Fredonia Arts Council and the Neighborhood Bridge Club. One of her favorite social activities was the "Coke-Break" group, who met nearly everyday in one of the local restaurants. Survivors, in addition to her husband, John, include: One daughter and son-in-law: Gerrianne & Pat Tubach of Fredonia, KS One daughter-in-law: Jackie Ong of Fall River, KS Five grandchildren: Travis Falstad; Tanner Ong; Tara Ong; Nate Tubach and Ally Tubach She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gale Barron; and her son, Dan Ong. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Fredonia with Rev. Steve Brodbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. where the family will receive friends 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in her name with the First Christian Church and may be sent to the funeral home.
