Dennis Mollnow

Dennis Dee Mollnow, 67, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Chanute, Kansas, died Monday, March 24, 2014 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas. He was born January 31, 1947 in Chanute, Kansas, the son of Norbert Gust and Geraldine Joy (Crawford) Mollnow. Dennis was a 1965 graduate of Chanute High School. He served in the United States Army in Vietnam where he was a certified helicopter crew chief and the company draftsman and photographer. He attended Neosho County Community College and received his bachelor degree and masters degree in sociology from Pittsburg State University. He served as the Regional Human Resource Director for the Kansas Social Services in Chanute, retiring in 2009 after 32 years of employment. Dennis was the current mayor of Fredonia, serving in his second term.

On April 4, 1977 in Miami, Oklahoma, Dennis was united in marriage to Diane Knight. She survives at their home.

A civic-minded individual, Dennis had been a member of many local organizations including the Fredonia Arts Council, Fredonia Chamber of Commerce and Fredonia Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Debra Diane Mollnow.Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Timmons Funeral Home with Mike Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Noon-5:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in Dennis name with Fredonia Regional Health Care Foundation and Fredonia Area Community Foundation and contributions can be sent to or left at the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
