Dennis D. Wadel

February 1, 1933 — February 8, 2020

Our Father, Dennis Dean Wadel, was born to Clarence and Anna Schmidt Wadel, February 1, 1933, at Garden City, Kansas. Dad went to his eternal reward, on February 8, 2020, a few days after his 87th birthday.

Dad spent his early boyhood in DeRidder, Los Angeles. In 1941, he moved with his parents to a farm in the Winton, California area, where dad received his formal education and grew to manhood. In 1951, they moved to Fredonia, Kansas, where he spent the rest of his life.

Dad was a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Fredonia, Kansas. He was united in marriage to Helen Jantz, at Fredonia, Kansas, January 18, 1953. To this union were born two sons and three daughters. They spent many happy years raising their family on their farm, west of Fredonia. Through the years, dad worked in several different area business, including the Excelsior Brick Company, Del-Rey Camper factory and the LaDow & Spohn Printing Company

Our mother was taken home on October 5th, 2009.

Dad and Bonnie Mayeske were married at the Emmanual congregation, Fredonia, Kansas, July 24th, 2011.

Those left to treasure memories are his loving wife, Bonnie, Bethel Home, Montezuma, Kansas; son-in-law, Pat and Irma Nichols, ElCampo, Texas; daughter, Joyce and Andy Koehn, Louise, Texas; son, Glen and Marla Wadel, Fredonia, Kansas; eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Brothers; Jim and Sharon Wadel, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, Jerry and Judy Wadel, Montezuma, Kansas, Willis Wadel, Montezuma, Kansas; sister, Carol and Clayton Wedel, Wingo, Kentucky.

Jantz in-laws; Luella Ratzlaff, Barbara Jantz, Ethel Jantz, Harold and June Jantz, LaVerda and Milton Boehs, Roland and Twila Schmidt, and Marilyn and Gaylord Schmidt.

Bonnie’s family; Pam Koehn, Lisa and Darvin Koehn, Terrance Mayeske, Mark and Paula Mayeske, fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, daughter, Marsha, son, Verle and infant daughter, Sheryl.

Services will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Fredonia, Kansas 66736. The family will receive friends Tuesday 6:00-7:30pm at the Mennonite church.
