Danny W. White, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas died Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 11, 1940 in Independence, Kansas, the son of Warren C. and Esther (Stroud) White. Dan was a 1958 graduate of Fredonia High School and a 1963 graduate of The University of Kansas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish. Dan worked as a teacher at Albuquerque Academy where he taught Spanish and English as a second language. In 1986, Dan went to work at Sedan Floral, where he worked in every facet of the business, including supervising the growing department. He retired in 1992. Dad and Nancy built, established, operated and poured their hearts into The White House, (now known as Vintage Park) in 1990, where they stayed busy for several years. After enjoying some retirement time, Dan re-entered the working world at Valent Aerostructures, where he remained until his health would not allow him to continue. On March 1, 1986 in Wichita at WSU Chapel, Dan was united in marriage to Nancy Boone. She survives at their home. Dan had a passion for reading, but also for teaching, which led him to the Peace Corps, where he taught several languages. He was fluent in six languages. Dan"s survivors include: Three sons: Warren & April White of Wichita, KS Brian & Laci Soper of Baytown, TX Todd LaRose of Springfield, MO Adopted son at heart: Kevin Lewis of Fredonia, KS Five grandchildren: Cody, Steven, Ashleigh, Colton and Jaxon Five great grandchildren: Addi, Bryden, Wyatt, Maddix and Kentlea Danny"s parents preceded him in death. Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the White"s residence, 7021 West Washington in Fredonia. Inurnment will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Dan"s name with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, and may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736.
