Dale Lee Houchin, 51, a a resident of Augusta, Kansas, died Monday, October 3, 2005, at the Via Christi St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born March 24, 1954 in Fredonia, Kansas, the son of Wilber E. and Juanita Mae (Ferguson) Houchin. He was a graduate of Rose Hill High School. He served in the United States Navy 1973-1977. He was currently employed as a custodian with USD 402-Augusta, and had also been employed by Lockhead-Martin and Boeing Aircraft Company. On November 21, 1981 in Wichita, Kansas, he married Zandra Huckabee. She survives at their home. He was a member of the American Legion in Augusta and served on the Augusta Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed woodworking, small engine repair and working on cars. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Zandra, include: Three Daughters: Michelle Dixon of Independence, KS; Crystal Houchin of Augusta, KS; Allison Houchin of Ansbach, Germany; One Son: Kevin Houchin of Leon, KS; One Sister: Alice Eshbaugh of Hutchinson, KS; Five Brothers: Alonzo Houchin of Fredonia, KS; Jimmie Houchin of Carlsbad, NM; William Houchin of Oak Harbor, WA; Larry Houchin of Severy, KS; Jerry Houchin of Severy, KS; 3 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Glen Edgar, Darrell Dean, Wilber Harvey and Ray Enlo. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 6, 2005, at the Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Crone of the New Albany United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery with military rites conducted by Fort Riley. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in his name with the American Diabetes Association and may be sent to the funeral home.
