Cleone Sharp, 94, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Monday, June 12, 2006 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born July 31, 1911 in Altoona, Kansas, the daughter of Charles and Irene (Frankenbery) Smith. She was a graduate of Altoona High School, where she was valedictorian of her graduating class. She taught school in the Lyman School District and was a nurse"s aide for 9 1/2 years at St. Margaret"s Mercy Hospital. On February 22, 1930 in Erie, Kansas, she married Gordon Arlo Sharp. He preceded her in death May 30, 1997. She was a longtime member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia; Christian Women"s Fellowship; Martha and Mary Christian Church Quilters; Gold Dust Quilters; Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary; life member of the Wilson County Historical Society; D.A.R.; H.D.U. for over 60 years; and served many years as a 4-H leader. She also enjoyed researching family genealogy. Her Survivors include: Three Daughters & Son-In-Laws: Marilyn Neill-Fredonia, KS Marita & Ermal Wilkinson-Gainesville, FL Sharon & Robert Green-Mt. Vernon, IN One Son & Daughter-In-Law: Dale A. & Bev Sharp-Benedict, KS One Sister: Kathryn Elliott-Boise, ID One Half-Sister: Mildred Holcom-Neodesha, KS 13 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Granddaughter She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Wilma Haring; one half-brother, Verne Smith; one half-sister, Shirley Steeves; a daughter-in-law, Patricia Sharp; a son-in-law, George Neill; and one grandchild, Sheila Sharp Nelson. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, June 16, 2006 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Steve Brodbeck officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends at the funeral home on Thursday, 6: 00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in her name with the First Christian Church and with Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary and may be sent to the funeral home.
