Clarence "Butch" Amos

Clarence Albert "Butch" Amos, 91, a resident of Fort Worth, Texas, died Wednesday, January 25, 2012 in Fort Worth. Clarence was born May 4, 1920 in Fredonia, Kansas, the son of John Albert and Alice Logan (Penn) Amos. He was a 1939 graduate of Fredonia High School. Butch was a retired U.S. Air Force major, serving for 23 years. He was the most senior ordained Catholic Deacon of the Fort Worth Catholic Diocese. On November 17, 1941 in Fredonia, Clarence was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Betty" Fulghum. She preceded him in death in 2001. Clarence"s survivors include: Daughter Terilee Steelman and husband, Dr. Ronald Steelman of North Carolina Sons Stephen and wife, Sharon of Wimberely, TX Patrick and wife, Nancy of Plano, TX Daniel and wife, Jana of Plano, TX Michael and wife, Judy of Fort Worth, TX Christopher and wife, Gail of Aledo, TX Peter and wife, Betsy of Georgia He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Betty, his parents and three brothers, Larry, John and Robert Amos preceded him in death. A funeral mass will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Sacred Heart Church with Father Stephen Thapwa officiating. Inurnment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A memorial has been established with the Sacred Heart Church or gifts to a local charity of the giver"s choice. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
