Cecil Ralph Hawley

Cecil Ralph Hawley, 81, a lifelong resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007 as the result of injuries he sustained in a tractor accident on the family farm near Coyville, Kansas. He was born December 28, 1925 in Iola, Kansas, the son of Milton Marion and Gracie Mildred (Thomson) Hawley. He served as a medic in the United States Army 1954-1956. He worked for 40 years as an electrician for Lafarge Corporation in Fredonia, retiring in 1988. On March 28, 1958 in Fredonia, he married Rosa Lee O"Brien. She survives at their home in Fredonia. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Fredonia. He loved working outdoors, especially on the family farm. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Rosa Lee, include: Two sons: Danny Laroy Hawley of Coffeyville, KS Bruce Alan Hawley of Altoona, KS One brother: Loren Hawley of Fredonia, KS One sister: Ruby Ernst of Hemett, CA 4 Grandchildren; 3 Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marion and Charles; and one sister, Norma Jean Catlin. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia with Pastor Steve Keiser officiating. Inurnment will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name with the Seventh Day Adventist Church and may be sent to the funeral home.
