Carl Robert Oneal

Carl Robert Oneal, 92, a long-time resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at Beverly Health & Rehab in Fredonia. He was born February 27, 1914 in Pratt, Kansas,the son of Noah and Eva (Griffith) Oneal. He was a 1932 graduate of Inman High School and served in the United States Army May 15, 1945 to November 23, 1945. He was a farmer and rancher all of his life. While farming and ranching, he worked at the Oil Mill, Alfalfa Mill and Excelsior Brick Yard in Fredonia. Later he was manager of the Frank Stryker Ranch, north of Fredonia for many years. He also had been employed by Lorentz Oil Company. On November 4, 1932 in Hutchinson, Kansas, he married Edna Klassen. She preceded him in death February 26, 1998. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren and enjoyed hunting and fishing. His survivors include: Three sons and daughters-in-law: Jack & Elaine Oneal of Seattle, WA; Jerry & Susie Oneal of Fredonia, KS; Gary L. (Jim) Oneal of Fredonia, KS Five grandchildren and spouses: Terry Oneal of Seattle, WA; Kelly Oneal of Seattle, WA; Ryan & Lori Oneal of Fredonia, KS; Sheri & Eddie Moya of Hewitt, TX; Chad & Tosha Oneal of Fredonia, KS Five great grandchildren: Lindsey Oneal of Fredonia, KS; Zachery & Brenna Moya of Hewitt, TX; Conner & Brayden Oneal of Fredonia, KS He was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Harris; half-sister, Ruth Oneal; and half-brother, Russell Oneal. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, March 27, 2006, at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Carl Thornton officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in his name with the Thanks Program and may be sent to the funeral home.
