Billy Max Pryor

Billy Max Pryor, 73, a resident of rural Fredonia, Kansas, died Monday, October 9, 2006 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born November 20, 1932 in Fredonia, the son of Cecil Odell and Agnes (Lamoreaux) Pryor. He served as Sergeant First Class in the United States Army 1951-1952. He was a 1954 graduate of Fredonia High School. Following graduation, he was a millroom operator at General Portland Cement Company, now Lafarge Corporation, for 39 years, retiring in 1995. He was also a lifelong third generation farmer and rancher. He also did custom baling in this area and was one of the first farmers in Wilson County to own a round baler. On June 6, 1954 in Fredonia, he married Marilyn Joan Knoles. She survives at their home. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia, Boilermakers Local #75, VFW, American Legion and the Optimist Club. He was a founding member of the Southeast Kansas Feeder Pig Association and had been active with the Jaycees and Kiawanis Clubs. Max had a love of hunting and fishing. Survivors, in addition to his wife Marilyn, include: Two Sons & Daughter In Law: Billy & Brenda Pryor of Frisco, TX Clifford Pryor of Fredonia, KS One Daughter & Son In Law: Kathy & Joe Rudd of Fredonia, KS One Brother & Sister In Law: Dean & Betty Pryor of Jonesboro, AR Six Grandchildren: Amanda Fox and her husband Shawn; Greta Seiler; Kendall Pryor; Kyler Pryor; Levi Pryor; and Stella Pryor Two Great Grandsons: Gabe and Grady Fox Three Nieces He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Kara Pryor. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 13, 2006 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Steve Brodbeck and Dr. Monte Gravenstein officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, Noon-7:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in his name with the Optimist Club Scholarship Fund and may be sent to the funeral home.
