Betty Louise Blaker, 76, a longtime resident of New Albany, Kansas, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas. She was born January 31, 1932 in New Albany, the eldest of nine children born to Melvin and Ruby (Richards) Anderson. She grew up in New Albany and was a 1950 graduate of Fredonia High School. On August 18, 1950 in Fredonia, she married Ivan L. Blaker. The Blaker"s made their home Burrton, Kansas from 1954 until they returned to New Albany in 1989. During their married life, Betty was a homemaker, babysitter and an Avon Lady. Betty was an active member of the Burrton United Methodist Church and the New Albany United Methodist Church. She also belonged to the Rebekkah Lodge and served several terms as President of the P.T.A. in Burrton and was a leader of Jobe"s Daughter"s. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Ivan, include: Two daughters: Laura Henderson of Fredonia, KS Susan Blouch (Daniel) of Newton, KS Foster daughter: Debbie Grow of Burrton, KS Foster son: Mike Adams (Connie) of Springfield, MO Three brothers: Don Anderson of Fredonia, KS Melvin C. "Bud" Anderson of New Albany, KS Richard D. Anderson of Ash Grove, MO Three sisters: Joan Houchin of Fredonia, KS Irene Lakin of Augusta, KS Nancy Wescott of Willard, MO Eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Jerry Anderson; and one sister, Melba Hosier. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, January 12, 2009 at the New Albany United Methodist Church with Pastor Susan Galvan officiating. Burial will be in the Weakley Cemetery near New Albany. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Betty"s name with the New Albany United Methodist Church and may be sent to the funeral home. Notes of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
