Betty Lou Chaffin, 73, a resident of Sun City, Arizona and formerly of the Fredonia, Kansas area and of Washington State, died Thursday, February 8, 2007 at her home in Sun City. She was born February 21, 1933 in Fall River, Kansas, the daughter of Arthur and Leona (Brannaman) Ferguson. She was a graduate of Fredonia High School. She was a retired purchasing clerk for Good Samaritan Medical Center in Washington State. On June 27, 1954, she married Royce D. Chaffin. He survives at their Sun City home. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia, the Washington Social Club and the Handi-Capables organization. Survivors, in addition to her husband, Royce, include: Two Daughters: Lou Reyes of Los Angeles, CA Pamela Jean Grover of Phoenix, AZ One Brother: Art Ferguson Jr. of Wichita, KS Four Grandchildren and Two Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, W.W. (Bill) Ferguson, Alonzo (Lonnie) Ferguson, Glenn (Pete) Ferguson, and David Ferguson; and sisters, Juanita Houchin, Marie McGinnis and Pearl Barker. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 15, 2007 at the Buxton Christian Church with Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in her name with the Breast Cancer Foundation and may be sent to the funeral home.
