Bessie M. Padley, 91, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away early Monday morning at Windsor Place in Coffeyville, Kansas.Bessie Marie Padley was born August 26, 1925 in rural Liberty, Kansas the daughter of Charles Whipple Mellington and Minnie Mae (Drawhon) Mellington.She grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1943.On January 1, 1946 she was united in marriage to William Nelson Padley and he preceded her in death December 11, 2012.In her earlier years she worked part time for Reliance Manufacturing, Tri County Manufacturing and Peerless Manufacturing all in Cherryvale. Later in life she was a homemaker and took care of things around the family farm.She was a member of the Cherryvale Christian Church and New Hope Christian Church.Bessie loved to go fishing, boating, camping and garden. She will be remembered for her faith and love for her family.Survivors include children, Sharon Sample"and husband Don"of Coffeyville, Kansas, Karen Presley of Cherryvale, Kansas, grandchildren, Susan and Steve Potter of Cherryvale, Kansas, Sheri and Matt Christie of Joplin, Missouri, Tina and Ron Coffey of Coffeyville, Kansas, Denise and Richard Walker of Pace, Florida, Michael Meadows of Blue Rapids, Kansas, great grandchildren, Ryann Coffey, Austin Coffey, Gabriele Christie, Marrissa Walker and Michael Walker, Lauren and Kylie Meadows.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sons, Calvin Padley and Gary Padley, sisters, Ruby Peyton, Mable Blair and Ida Mae Smith, grandchildren, Bruce Peyton and Donnie Sample Jr., and son in law, Ray Presley.Memorial Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas.Inurnment will take place at a later date.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Cherryvale Christian Church or New Hope Christian Church and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
