Bernadine Barnhart

Bernadine “Bernie” Barnhart, 86, a resident of Altoona, Kansas, passed away Monday, September 23, 2019 at Diversa Care in Chanute, Kansas.

Bernie was born August 10, 1933 in Longton, Kansas the daughter of Olen and Maxine Trefethen. She grew up and attended Longton High School.

On March 12, 1988, she was united in marriage to James Barnhart in Fredonia, Kansas. James preceded her in death on December 30, 2010.

Bernie worked as a CNA at Mercy Hospital in Independence for over twenty years.

Bernie enjoyed volunteered helping with lunches at Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship Church,

Survivors include her caregivers, Jim and Stacy Raymond of Altoona, Kansas and her church family.

In addition to her husband, James, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held at the Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship Church, 215 13th Street, Altoona, Kansas, on Monday, September 30 at 2:00 P.M.

Interment will be at the Altoona Cemetery.
