Barbara Anne Gorton

Barbara A. Gorton, 85 of rural Fredonia, Kansas passed away at 7:15 A.M., Sunday, November 26, 2017 at Fredonia Regional Hospital.

Barbara Anne Gorton was born August 15, 1932 in Buffalo, Kansas the daughter of Oscar Lance and Pearl (Cole) Lance. She graduated from Neodesha High School in 1950.

On September 23, 1950 in Bentonville, Arkansas she was united in marriage to Carl A. Gorton and he survives at the home.

She lived in Wilson County her entire life and was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Church.

Barbara was a homemaker and enjoyed being outdoors taking care of her flowers. She will be remembered as a hard worker and always would lend a helping hand when needed.
Barbara belonged to the Indian Mission Club mending clothing, which was boxed and sent to Indian reservations. Barbara is remembered for always taking the coats because she was very good at replacing zippers and mending the coats. She loved to sew and made, altered and mended clothing for family and friends.

Survivors in addition to Carl include, children, Richard (Diane) Gorton of Fort Worth, Texas, Don (Jill) Gorton of Fall River, Kansas, Becky (Jeffrey) Dauber of Fredonia, Kansas, Sandra Gorton of Fredonia, Kansas, Larry Gorton of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, brothers, Ted Lance of Frankfort, Kentucky, Leslie Lance of Woodland, California, sister, Florence Guiou of Fredonia, Kansas, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Donald, Kenneth and Jack Lance and grandson, Timothy Gorton.

Visitation with the family will be Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, November 30, 2017 at
Cornerstone Christian Church with Mike Hughes, officiating.

Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery south and west of Fredonia.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to Cookson Hills Christian School or Cornerstone Christian Church and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
