Annabel Friend

October 4, 1915 — February 11, 2006

Annabel Friend, 90, a lifelong resident of Fredonia until her move to Bartlesville, Oklahoma to live with her daughter Ruth in February of 2003, died Saturday, February 11, 2006 at Heritage Villa Nursing Center in Bartlesville, where she had been a patient for two months. She was born October 4, 1915 near Coyville, Kansas to Frank A. and Ruth (Foreman) Lyon and was a graduate of Coyville High School. On November 6, 1935 in Fredonia, she married Charles Henry Friend, Jr. He preceded her in death December 7, 1993. She was a loving wife and mother and a member of the Calvary Wesleyan Church in Fredonia. Her Survivors include: Two Sons and Daughters-In-Law, Billie & Esther Friend of Fredonia, KS; Larry & Betty Friend of Pierce, CO; Two Daughters and Sons-In-Law: Ruth & Loren Rovenstine of Bartlesville, OK; Rita & Joe Phillippe of Bartlesville, OK; Three Sons-In-Law: Rene Colaw of McPherson, KS; Fred Halgedahl of Cedar Falls, IA; Paul Elsberry of Fredonia, KS; Four Brothers: Kenneth Lyon of Farmington, NM; Garrold Lyon of Benton City, WA; Frank Lyon of Benton City, WA; Lewis Lyon of Howard, KS; Five Sisters: Lucille Harmon of Wenatchee, WA; Ruth Scott of Fredonia, KS; EllaMae Branson of Topeka, KS; Mildred Boster of Berryton, KS; Wilma Keber of Wichita, KS; 15 Grandchildren; 29 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents; three daughters, Betty Ann Colaw; Susan Elaine Halgedahl and Martha Rae Elsberry; two grandsons, Shawn Michael Friend and Eric Lyle Friend; two brothers, Frances Lyon and Richard Lyon; and one sister, Alice McElwain. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M. on Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at the Calvary Wesleyan Church with Rev. Loren Rovenstine officiating. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery, north of Fredonia. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 14, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in her name with the Calvary Wesleyan Church and may be sent to the funeral home.
