Alfred Gerald Ferguson

Alfred Gerald Ferguson, 100, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Toronto, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at Medicalodges in Independence, Kansas. Alfred Gerald Ferguson, the son of James Henderson and Anna Mary (Senn) Ferguson was born November 22, 1914 on their farm southwest of Toronto. In 1919, the family moved to a farm near Toronto so their children could attend Toronto Public Schools. Alfred graduated from Toronto High School in 1933. Following high school he worked in California and during World War II was an airplane mechanic in Hawaii. In the 1950"s he worked for Sutton Manufacturing in Wichita. In 1961, he returned to the family farm where he resided until he moved to Vintage Park in Fredonia in 2010. For many years, Alfred was an active member of the Greenwood County Historical Society. He enjoyed researching and writing articles for the Eureka Herald. Survivors include two brothers, Paul M. Ferguson (Ruth) of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Gilbert A. Ferguson (Jane) of Fredonia, Kansas, one niece, one nephew, and one cousin. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll and Alexander Ferguson, and a sister, Elizabeth Ferguson. Graveside services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Toronto Cemetery with Pastor Carl Ellis of the First United Methodist Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your favorite charity. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
