Kenneth W. Gibson, 81, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Kenneth Wayne Gibson was born September 15, 1936 in Iola, Kansas the son of Charles F. Gibson and Mary Frances (Marler) Gibson. He was raised in Humboldt, Kansas and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1954.
Ken served from 1955 until 1957 with the United States Army and was honorably discharged.
He was united in marriage to Jan Minniear in 1978 at Springfield, Missouri and she survives at the home.
Ken owned and operated Ken’s Auto & RV Sales in Cherryvale for many years and later worked in sales at SEK Auto Sales in Parsons, Kansas. He was still working at the time of his death.
He enjoyed bowling, camping, golfing and was a loyal Kansas City Royals and Chiefs fan.
Ken was a member of the Bowling Club in Cherryvale.
Survivors include his wife Jan of the home, sons, David Gibson and his wife Terri of Gardner, Kansas, Greg Gibson and his wife Brenda of Louisburg, Kansas, Kenyon Gibson of Cameron, Missouri, sisters, Kathy Garver of Alaska, Patricia Bruenger of Olathe, Kansas, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Max Gibson and sister, Judy Shouse.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M., Monday, April 16, 2018 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
Inurnment will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Humboldt, Kansas at a later date.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Kenneth Gibson Memorial Fund in care of Wickham Family Funeral Home.
